The stars are beautiful, damn it

Paint all night;

Like a Diablo on a breaking dawn

Turn towards drifting clouds

Agape my eye to consume;

The serenity

From the moonlit sunflower

Hues twist in my vision

Pain comes in waves

Virtues propped

Atop Solomonic columns

Torrents of diversity

A petal falls

Blue moon hold me

Just for tonight

Author's Notes/Comments:

The title was uttered in a silly squeaky voice by a friend of mine a long long time ago out of the blue, while we were walking home from middle school one day.  For some reason that phrase stuck with me all these years.

there are a lot of

there are a lot of contradictions here some resonate beautifuly with me and others turn the poem into a juxtapositioned observance. from day break to heartache and to the moon and back...  I like the notion of the red dawn

mostly this reminds me of a sugar cane plantation where I loved to spend my free time painting the scenery. but i was always consumed by darkness and I decided never to return till the darkness has been exorcised.  I still havent returned. perhaps its time I did anyway. to see the gold slivers of sunrise slip through the sugarcane colums between the well kept garden and the horizon as they push with thier will the sun up into the sky...  beautiful and complex write. I enjoyed discovering things through it. Cheers SS

I loved it. Took me way out.

I loved it. Took me way out. Really really.

...and he asked her, "do you write poetry? Because I feel as if I am the ink that flows from your quill."

"No", she replied, "but I have experienced it. "

The stars are beautiful damnit:

I like the words you use and the imagery these words evoke. How to paint such heavenlyness or the hues the starlight creates on sunflowers for example; beautiful creativity. Liked your poem very much.
