The Unbearable Lightness

I'm lonely, but never alone

When you're right there

Your painful softness

Your deafening quietness

The insufferable mildness

Of your subtle existence

I can reach out to touch you

But walk my life to get to you

My words are easily heard

So is the barking of a dog

Or the humming of a bird

Sometimes I lose it

And feel the throbbing of my heart

I hold myself with a thread of grace

While I pursue that last splinter

Of fleeing sanity

The final cord of reason

Trying to nudge its way

Through the mysteries of your contradictions

This maddening wisdom of yours

When detailed neatness

And chaotic forces

Find a harmonious corner

And evolve into what drives me crazy

Your painful softness

Your deafening quietness

The insufferable mildness

The unbearable lightness

Of your entire being…
