* Poems Of The Sun

*

SLEEPYHEAD

*

She hates dawnsun
to rip to shreds
curtains of her dream
chamber bed
As a confirmed
photophobe
she runs from sunrays'
invasive probes

SOLAR DECORUM

The sun invades with
no proper decorum
Whereever he is,
there's an instant quorum.
He paints with light
each chamber and forum,
He more than Midas
creates a gold aurum

*

SUN DYED AT DAWN

*

The sun egg dipped

into many cups of dye
.. pink and purple saffron yellow
orange and red.. a gold mellow
but He preferred His own color.. that
of blazing light
and emerged untouched
by dawn or dusk or deepest night

*

SHROUDCLOUDS

*

The sun was shrouded
in a scandal cloud
Not seen his rays

everburning candles
until the wind came
and blew away
the shroud clouds
and all saw
his eternal light

*

BLIP

*

Out of the purple
night
comes the horizon
gold orb of light
like a blip of
a quickening miracle
on the flat lines
in the heartmonitor
of the no longer dead

*

CATCH THE SUN

*

Daffodils, dandelions
forsythia and buttercups

burst from the warming sod
with
sunflowers
and goldenrod
catching the yellow
sun of God

*

ACOLYTES

*

Go the sea
to see the sun's devotees
.. the worshipping acolytes
of his sunrise and sunset light

*

UNQUENCHABLE

*

No matter how high or strong
the waterfall's waves..
they can't quench the fires of
the reflected sun they lave

*

WALLFLOWERS AND SUNFLOWERS

*

Wallflowers.. stone framed
rock foiled
.. cool, wetness rooted, shy
are the most beautiful blooms
of all
said unconvincingly one
to a devotee of the flowers of the sun

*

HELIOTROPE

Dawndrawn

*

ARCHER

*

Arjun must bow to
the sun, master archer
who shoots his rays.
Through the courtyard's arches
Through window portals
comes the invitation immortal.

*

BEYOND RAINBOWS

*

In the rainbow
are only seven hues
but the sun has made
infinite shades
of infrared, ultraviolet
and countless greens and blues.

In his nuts and berries,
vine and tree fruits
his spectrum is every and each,
tangerine and tints of tan
and every shade of pink and peach.

*

SPRING SUN

*

Oh spring sun,
melter of icicle rigidity.
Eraser of snow frigidity.

*

ORANGE ORB

*

The orange orbed sun
has been loving trees: every one
.. now in the citrus grove grow
many new orange suns

*

DELINEATING ONENESS

*

Dusk and dawn
horizontal
lines of pink and red and orange fire
seem to separate the blue sea
from the aqua sky
yet no fire can separate
earth from air

*

WRAPPED IN NO CLOUD SWADDLING

*

The sun does not
dip into the sea

nor is he trisected

by branches of trees
He is not by
sunrise dyed pink
He is wrapped in
no cloud swaddling.

He is as his Creator
a lover of all...
allgiving and unchanging

*

TOASTING

*

The wavy sea does at dawn toast
the sun and all his rising host
while grasses on the dunes join in
applauding wildly on the coast

*

ARBITRESS

*

Milton said the
moon was arbitress
but since light of
the sun is her dress
it is to the sun
that we most go
for mercy's ultimate
redress

*

FREED MOON

*

the moon rises now
out of
the trees' prison bars
as around the world
doors of slave harems open

*

SAMESHWARA SUN

*

The sun
gives the same pure rays
to both men and women
to those made bronze by his rays
   as to those hidden
to those
who this hour
have power and to those powerless
He glows the same beams
on the saint and hiding Dracula
He is unconcerned when clouds
   do his light shroud

(Sameshwara: God in the aspect
of equal to all and serene)

*

FENCER

*

O sun, greatest fencer,
with infinitely long swords
going in every direction..
scotching Draculas everywhere

*

CHERRY CHEER

*

Every cherry
holds the sun's cheer..
and seed chariots
of new trees of cherry.

*

RAINBOW PROMISE

*

Overarcing the entire sky
..a 7 hued rainbow..
Gate of Heaven..
.. we,  Rainbow Catchers,
stand between the brilliant
setting sun and His projected
Promise.

*

INTO THE HEART OF THE SUN

*

Into the heart of the sun
I will go
.. that I may feel
his toasting warm love
on all sides.. in every cell.

*

APOLLO

*

Apollo the sungod
is carried by his steeds
Across the sky at
awesome speed
spilling rays on very
African, Asian, and Swede,
and pouring out his
infinite light seeds

*

GATECRASHER SUN

*

He attends all
parties, confident
in his gatecrashing
is the sun.

*

CHRISTENING

*

The newfallen snow was glistening
in the sun's universal christening
yet for spring's snowmelt streampour
was the winterweary world listening

*

NO HARM NO FOUL

*

The lightning only seemed
to bisect the rainbow..
but instead he magnified
her beauty

*

DAY'D

'

Moon circled in orb
that God has laid.
She turned bright plaids
to moonlight braid.
The sun meant not
moonlight to fade
though by his glow
the sky was day'd

*

LIGHT MITOSIS

*

The sun through
the rare tree branch
which survived in
the cattle ranch
was bisected..
a seed of light
in mitosis
.. as it rose
in the ponds
and windows and mirrors
there would be suns
everywhere

*

RAINBOWED

*

said many grey clouds
.. you sun are not allowed
to speak out loud
but rained away their shrouds
and some special drops
by his light were rainbowed

*

SWANDOWN

*

as the swans take flight
their feathery swandown
flecks the lakes already
spangled with sundown

*

TREEPLUCKED

*

Fruit sunpacked
birdpecked
and squirrelpicked
by tree plucked
and in your lap
placed

*

ASKING NOTHING, GIVING ALL

*

With his infinite candles
the sun exposes night's scandals.
With his endless needles
he stitches new green grass.
With his numberless wands
he conducts silent choirs.
Asking nothing he gives all.

*

(to J and P Bertsch)

*

NONVIOLENT MUSK

*

From his prison desk
he saw the sun disc
turning sunset
into dusk
He left for home
through pine woods
smelling cones'
nonviolent musk.

(36 oxen are castrated
to make 1 ounce of
musk oxen musk)

*

LONGFINGERED SUN

*

As the longfingered sun
reaches out to touch
a cloistered trillium
or a lake trembles in the light of moon and stars
so can a poet's long rainbow of words

play our heartstrings from afar.

*

THE EMPTY CHALICE OF NIGHT

*

Light slowly fills
the empty chalice of night.
Quietly the sunspill
brims the grail with light.

*

DAYBREAK

*

The actor parts stage curtains.

Moses once parted the Red Sea

Daily the rising gold sun

parts the royal blue sea

from the aqua blue sky

gifting all with dawn ecstasy.

Short poems

THE SUN

He who gilds the fringed coast Of all buttercups the toast.
More ancient than all.. yet evernew His ray host.
*
The forces of night .. their vanishing might
.. melt away.. in dawn's vanquishing light
*
The sun's allgiving gold cheer.. has become the allgiving tree's purple cherries.
*
Popping oer the mountains the dawn sun arose, unrolled through
windows welcome carpets.... of red rose

the imagery is nice - though still perplexed
