Hugh Dowding
Hugh Dowding was a vegetarian, an antivivisectionist, a Theosophist.
His wife founded Beauty Without Cruelty, cosmetics without
the ambergris from sperm whales, castor from Canadian beavers,
civet from Abyssinian civet cats and musk from castrated musk oxen,
slaughter obtained ingredients which polluted many cosmetics.
Dowding was the RAF Commander of the Battle of Britain in 1940.
He said so many had witnessed a certain phenomenon that he could no
longer discount it. Planes returning from the bombing of Nazis during
the battle arrived back at British airports with dead pilots. Angels
were flying the planes.
