Yet [*/+/^] : 27.225 MHz, Some Final Measures; A Poem To The EARLY CHRISTIANS

I revere you above all others---

my earliest and most elder spiritual sisters and brothers:

I have studied your ancient History,

to Rome and its great cities from rural Galilee,

you preached, proclaimed and shared the Gospel in its purity

despite some prudes' and haters' persecutorial perfidy,

and the Roman empire's already unstable strife.

I look forward to meeting you when my earthly life

ends, and my soul is released into the Heavenly

realm you know, where our Savior promised I, too, could be . . .

I, too; even such a cold mess of slop as me . . . .

Author's Notes/Comments:

The poem is addressed to all of the Christians who participated in the Gospels' events (I include the Magi in Matthew 2), and all of those named as writers of, or recepients of the various Epistles.  Although I am inherently unworthy to wash their feet, the very Son of God shed His Blood to die into my death, and shatter it, so that His Resurrection shall become my own---so that my soul shall return to Him at my death, and my body shall rise again to be joined to it when He returns to this world.  That is the Faith I hold, regardless of denomination, in my old age.

Thank you for commenting.

Thank you for commenting.  The Early Christians are very important to me; I think that is why I incline to Orthodox Christianity, because it feels more connected to them than the Western version.
