Smoke and Dust

Do you remember how

You brought me sunflowers

And said you would love me forever?

Do you remember when

I kissed you in the moonlight?

I promised to stay too.

Remember how we used to say

We would travel the world together?

So much for that now.

We said a lot of things back then,

Attempting to reassure...

Trying desperately to reaffirm...

But now...

So much has changed since then

And your voice falls silent

Silently

The world keeps on moving

And crying gains me nothing

Nothing

Memories vanish like smoke on the wind

One by one they fade away

Remnants of what was once love and trust

Time turns everything to dust.

Author's Notes/Comments:

After taking a brief hiatus due to life, my muse has come back full force with an emphasis on past loves.
It also helps that my new best friend is also a musician (like myself) and has been getting my butt in gear with continuing to write songs.
