When I am Dead

When I am dead I wish to never age.

My memories, I wish to not betray,

My life is nothing more than a blank page.

My thoughts were black as death and full of rage,

My father drank, and drank his life away.

When I am dead I wish to never age.

My notebooks, filled with words, feel like a plague,

In my stead, saying things I want to say.

My life is nothing more than a blank page.

At eighteen I first stood upon a stage,

Learning life was nothing more than a play.

When I am dead I wish to never age.

I bust my ass for a minimum wage,

The job is shit, I do not want to stay.

My life is nothing more than a blank page.

My world feels like a fucking songbird's cage,

Who, singing, mourns until her voice decays.

When I am dead I wish to never age,

My life is nothing more than a blank page.

Poems should be prophetic. Wish you had stayed. Best wishes.
