The Howling Cry of an Angel

In the dead of silence on a cold night

A piercing scream shattered it all

At the banks of a river a lonely woman cries into the night

She has no name, no family and no outlook on life

Her feathered wings, torn out of her and lost in the river

Gripping the wet dirt, she screams in agony

As she isn't loved by her longtime mate

On her knees, each tear shatters on the ground like glass

She lays down, resting her cheek on the cold ground

"The Earth" she says, "...is the only one I can rest my weary head on."

She closes her eyes

As she wishes she can fly back home
