I awake to sunshine
But it quickly disappears
And darkness surrounds me
Sunshine and rainbows make me happy
But these things I no longer have
I remember the bright blue skies
And the brilliant colors of the rainbow
The colors that touched my heart
And touched my soul
As the sun shone upon me
The ground damp beneath my feet
The simple beauty of it all
On days like these I could dream forever
Where did life's simple pleasures go
Why were they taken from me
Now bitterness surrounds me
Though it is bittersweet
Because I can still remember
Even if I cannot see
