Tilting at Windmills

Windmills face the ocean breeze,
casting giant shadows on the land.
Don Quixote raising sword.

Fighting lost causes it seems to be,
chasing down mighty giants as
windmills face the ocean breeze.

Loyal servant by his side,
as the attackers in his mind come
casting giant shadows on the land.

His story told from year to year,
tilting at windmills with
Don Quixote raising sword.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Cascade

Cascade, a form created by Udit Bhatia, is all about receptiveness, but in a smooth cascading way like a waterfall. The poem does not have any rhyme scheme; therefore, the layout is simple. Four stanzas of three lines each.

Say the first verse has three lines. Line one of verse one becomes the last line of verse two. To follow in suit, the second line of verse one becomes the last line of verse three. The third line of verse one now becomes the last line of verse four, the last stanza of the poem.
