The Moment Millicent Melts Your Heart

Sweet persuasion permeates when Millie makes a fuss

No peculiar smile to scrutinize nor words ambiguous

She won't rescind or toss to the bin gifts intended for you alone

But hold her ground til you come around to accept what she's sewn

Without regret she manifests her care in her hand-crafted wares

Like a heavy quilt she smothers your guilt and revives you with repairs

No pretense or elements of elegance for those she finds irrelevant

Though you spurn her concern and urge her to quit she can't

At the dawn by the pond she walks on the gravel

And claws for her camera as her scarf unravels

You find her arm amiably draped along the length of your back

With a rub of her hand she'll urge you to stand by a bicycle rack

Her flash will pierce the mist as though it were thin as paper

This beacon of benevolence divides the blanket of vapor

So disregard your guard and don't remain so stoic

She'll hug you heartily when you're feeling least heroic

In the corner with a Thai order and rum-based cocktails

Amused by her discussion with indiscreet details

As midnight nears she dares you to lift her off the ground

And in your grip you find that she weighs scarcely ninety pounds

With exaggerated swagger she'll stagger toward the carousel

Follow her lead as she mounts her steed the color of caramel

When Millie measures you among her most cherished chums

Don't reservedly observe when that opportunity comes

Author's Notes/Comments:

Poetry tends to come infrequently from my pen these days, but, yes, I finally finished a new one painted with as vivid detail as my imagination could muster.

Thank you very much, Lady A.

Thank you very much, Lady A. I love writers like Paul Simon and Bob Dylan who use alot of internal rhyme. They're my role models. :)
