The Passion of the Cockroach

The Passion of the Cockroch

Clark Steven Lupton

2004

I stepped on a cockroach

But it was not dead

So I hit it with a chair leg

And cut off its head

It's legs still kicked

The antennae twitched

It was still alive

I'm glad our souls weren't switched

I turned it up

To see where it would go

To see if it would escape

And crawl to and fro

To say I cared a little

Isn't a lie

It crawled for 5 minutes

And still wouldn't die

The antennae stopped moving

The body was at rest

But somehow it was still alive

To kill it would be best

But I don't want to kill it

My feelings for it are few

I may not want it to suffer,

But I also don't want it under my shoe.

This is a true story

Its head was truly sliced

But if you don't like something suffering

Then don't watch the Passion of the Christ

Author's Notes/Comments:

This is a true story and everything is there. After it happened I thought "I bet I could rhyme this!" and I did. I still haven't seen Passion of the Christ though
