How to Write a Rhyming Poem

Let’s take the time

To write a rhyme

You can stay at home

When you write a poem

The subject is what you write about

Yours will rock I have no doubt

Write about what you know

It is something you can show

You can earn lots of fame

When the last words sound the same

Some people complain and rant

About making rhymes because they can’t

People who rhyme are few

Because they don’t know what to do

You can use a rhyming dictionary or your head

If it’s good you can even earn some bread

A poem has a beginning, middle and end

When it’s done you can show a friend

Making poems is exciting

So stop reading this and start your writing :o)

Author's Notes/Comments:

My new student was writing his seatwork and there was a spare sheet of blank paper on the table, which I wanted to fill with a poem. I used my head. I banged it on the table until the rhymes poured out. He must think I'm a terror teacher.
