The Dance

Breathtaking beauty

a vision of a dream,

more beautiful than anyone I've ever seen.

I remember seeing her walk into the room

won't forget it anytime soon.

She was young and beautiful,

straight off the cover of a magazine.

The soft texture of her skin

reminded me of peaches and cream

she was about 5 foot 9 and 120

silky blonde hair with eyes

the color of the deep blue sea

young and beautiful,

this breathtaking beauty.

The club was full and all eyes on her

she just flashed a smile and sat at a table in the corner

it wasn't just the men

but the women alike,

this breathtaking beauty had a special light.

The evening wore on with the sounds of many songs

her presence commanding,

so very strong,

not a flaw in any feature

in this stunning, beautiful creature.

The evening still passing

she still hadn't danced

but I can sure tell you

there were a lot men dreaming of romance.

I for one would steal a glance from time to time

seen her turn down a lot of offers,

smiling and being kind.

A singer stepped on stage

and the lights went way down low

the band started playing one

of the most beautiful songs I know.

He sat down in front and

the words started flowing

so soft and beautifully,

it was a song made famous

by Journey, "Faithfully"

Made you wish you could

melt into the arms of another

want to feel them inside your heart forever.

Just then I felt the soft touch

of a hand on my shoulder,

I was asked to dance by a beautiful whisper.

I turned to say yes and there was that incredible

smile from those wonderful lips

I couldn't believe it,

she actually came over and asked me to dance.

I took her hand and accompanied

her to the dance floor,

my eyes feasted on the white

cotton blouse and tight fitting jeans she wore.

I looked around and saw everyone stare

and I knew they were asking "Why me"?

"Why me" dancing with this breathtaking beauty?

She looked me in the eyes and smiled

my heart racing wild,

I put out my hands to her for the dance

but she slid in close to my body,

right past.

She moved her face next to mine

creamy skin so smooth, so fine

I was intoxicated by the beauty of her scent

my pulse out of control at that very moment.

A beautiful song,

a breathtaking beauty

my arms full,

pressed tight to a soft and desirable body.

I was mesmerized

hypnotized,

by the tenderness in her eyes.

She asked my name

I replied and asked the same,

then she asked if I came here very often

I said usually just once a week,

she smiled that smile

we started dancing cheek to cheek

then suddenly,

she slid her fingers into mine and squeezed tight

much to my smile and hearts delight.

The song was ending

but I was burning with fever,

as I was dancing with God's most beautiful creature.

The dance over,

but not in my heart

I think she knew,

as our fingers slowly slipped apart.

The crowd started applauding

as the lights slowly came back on

I turned back around,

but Lord she was gone.

I searched everywhere

but couldn't find her

nowhere to be found,

just the beautiful memory of the dance as a reminder.

Then in my shirt pocket I felt a piece of paper

I pulled it out and on it

was some writing and a number.

I opened it up and this is what it said

"Thank you for the dance, you beautiful man

and after this dance

if you would like to take a chance

take this number and please call me,

Love, Jodi"

I stood there amazed

almost disbelieving,

then I smiled

because I knew I wasn't dreaming.

It all started with a dance

and holding each other tight

and if I am lucky,

it will end with us dancing in love

for the rest of my life.
