The Beautiful In You

I've seen the falling of the stars,

and the setting of the moon.

I've seen the wild dandelions,

and the springtime flowers bloom.

I've seen all things laid down to rest,

on earth, mother nature's pillow.

I've heard all things cry out in vain,

none lonlier than the willow.

As wild and rough the rivers run,

yet gently blows the wind.

These all bring thoughts of you to mind,

where I'm reminded once again.

Just how I love all beautiful things,

my feelings deep and true.

Yet, the one thing I love most of all,

is the beautiful in you.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This was written on a whim as I gazed upon a falling star as a teenager, 17 to be exact. What followed was the expression of what I had just seen, combined

with the feelings I had for the young lady who had my heart at that moment. The words flowed as easily as water from a spout. This has alaso been published with Poetry.com.
