gregarious grievances
static inappropriate opera
that they are
the lash of your tenor
bridles baritones to soothe their rumble
a clever caveat if there ever were one
deciduous dames
denoting a dereliction of duty
daunting toe spins
that swivel eyes

too dimly lit dim
informing the mind
that gravity can be manipulated
with beauty, purpose and strength
even if talent were the tiniest bit bankrupt

Author's Notes/Comments:

A friend took me recently to a high school play that her son helped write. It was a cross between Figaro the opera meets the dance troops' Swan Lake.

It was lovely but rather jumbled. I'm sure many did not notice the haphazardness of the two pieces spliced together. The Operatic Singing was just lovely and even though the ballerinas' made some stumbles over their

twirling and jumps they still looked so lovely and strong as they did them. At the end we stood up and wildly clapped but as we did so I have to admit this poem was already coming to me. I thought to myself they should have spliced in as well William Shakespeare's  A Comedy Of Errors too............. as that would have made the whole thing seem so much more befitting.

Wonderful! I am a fan of such

Wonderful! I am a fan of such wild and crazy conglomerations like I imagine the highschool play in your description. The poem is very inspiring for me. Art would change the education systems throughtout America and inturn, change the world for the better if we could make it a graceful transition. If we preserve the the great work of the past, we can do it!!

...and he asked her, "do you write poetry? Because I feel as if I am the ink that flows from your quill."

"No", she replied, "but I have experienced it. "
