THE VEGAS LOOK SEE

Folder:
JOURNAL # 41

she listed
like
a lethargic maiden
far too generous
in her ample libations
a curious aged beauty
I'd read about over the years
sinful and salacious
bright and entertaining
I spent a flash of 24 hours
actually less
in her glaring neon presence
a small town girl was I
gaping more so
not nearly so impressed
before this overly flashy
face lifted dame
who'd spent too many times
under the knife of
the bulldozer
once complimenting
self proclaimed high rollers
only to then
spit them out
just as fast
onto the streets
of poverty's unrest
a has been loser
for years I imagined
the reality of coming to this
gambler's oasis
among the dunes
and peroxide show girls
at the fringe of a dead man's
land
hardly an easy place to
put down roots
a grifter's calculated risk
but the pull was
seminal
too much movie and
television glitz
so we came we saw
we did not conquer
and then we left
18 hours of being over loaded
on tourist venues and
shallow thrills quest
it was a nice enough visit
but I doubt I'd want to go back
there anytime soon..............

Author's Notes/Comments:

was recalling my quick trip to Vegas back in May of 2010 from California and what I really thought of that town when I toured it. This poem pretty much covered my over all view of it.
