BEAUTIFUL SKULL

JOURNAL # 41

'Beautiful Skull'
stunning horizon
endless shoreline
sand and surf for
miles and miles
so peaceful
shocking to know
such paradise
is but a graveyard
to that sea tortoise now
closing my eyes
I imagine the joy
he must feel as he
lounges in the oceans
of Heaven's own paradise
perhaps one day he will
tell me the story
of his life's remarkable journey
right up till
his Beautiful Skull
washed up here on this
amazing coast line....................

Author's Notes/Comments:

this idea came from the last time I went to the beach I enjoyed the shoreline but stumbled upon a skull and it took me a bit of time to figure out that it was indeed a skull and a local there told me it was that of a tortoise. This poem evolved from that recollection.
