AN AMATEUR'S VIEW ( A SOMEWHAT POLITICAL PIECE)

Folder:
JOURNAL#30

even shade

one would think

would require even for thought by the sun

like, should I shine here but not over there today

and is tomorrow the best possible time to bake

those pesky sun bathers in St.Tropei some

the realm at which we best comprehend

the components of our physical world

fails us famously when materialism outstays

its ultra attractive welcome

power is abusive and abused

a common negative on the spiritual scale

the math works

grow wealthier, grow further unaware

a frequent malady that comes from

focusing far too much on getting more and more

money and power

rather than using the power and money you already

have to enrich the rest of the world as well as

yourself

some get it, some don't

some will, some won't

it's all relative

the haves dictate to the have nots so readily

and do so in such alarming numbers

though the U.S. is known for having one of the

most modern societies in the world

with countless freedoms guaranteed to its people

still, the average man often finds himself in the

longest lines for the shortest advice

pitted against his own conscience and good will

if such beliefs or personal agenda's he possesses

clash his government's plans or ideas on how its

citizens should act or carry themselves

"9-11" brought home some very scary truths

we will never be fully safe again

and such soulless destruction

unleashed on us a big brother we had before been

able to keep in check with our moral scoldings,

judiciary medications and binding contracts tied

up with the bill of rights or the U.S. Constituion

where as now the meds of before

are off the table and in the trash

out dated and unusable

and the Bill of Rights is cowaring timidly

before a giant bottle of white-out in the current

administration's threatening hand

pork barrel spending has become a joke that's just

not funny anymore

its more so embarrassing and quite sad actually

for the lobbyists who once were just loud mouthed

annoying culture vultures, feeding off the candidate's

weaknesses while playing up to their vanities

have now become a rabid pack of wild, ferocious dogs

so hungry for all the excess pork , money and power

that they would even bite off the hands that regularly

feed them so very well

to close such doors that lead us through these

hallways of abuse and fear

I say pay attention more to what is not made so

obvious

feed your deeper curiosity

rely on the media less

empty your pockets upon occasion

judge a little less harshly and beautify your own

soul with a little more kindness directed at all

the best weapon against evil is refusing to   join

its teams

no matter how pretty the uniforms they wear may

appear

and never forget not even for a moment as we sit in

some amazing restaurant on a Friday night

enjoying our evening out

that there are young men and women dying as we

eat, laugh and make merry with our friends

just so we can continue enjoying our own favorite

brand of the American dream

that has to be where the nation's shame lies

heaviest

upon the average American's shoulders

who once so ignorantly was for the horrendous

details that now make up this war

ah, but if only we could have known then

what we know now

would the American people have allowed such

vulgar show of power and subsequent blindness

to be shown via our great arsenal of weaponry

and young man power

I somehow  must doubt not.................
