THE NAKED GENIUS (ARTIST JACKSON POLLOCK)

Folder:
JOURNAL # 41

edges and angles
art forms
for the avid eyes
to skate across and over
looking always just beyond
the mere construct
Pollack scrambled the masses
basting, blending and butchering
his colors
scarring corneas
with what seemed like
his abstract carelessness
ad nauseam
via their forced translation of
his talent to the viewing brain
the art world withheld from him
the fame of exposure for his genius
until they awoke from their own
prejudices to realize
he could never be white potatoes
all the way
his own personal art perspective began
as that spicy dish only a few would have
the stomach to try
and with the emergence of
splash color intellect
middle grounders found themselves
jammed shoulder to shoulder
with critics and novice spectators alike
the art world grudgingly unfolded itself
alas to stand up right eventually
and enthusiastically applaud
'The Naked Genius'
that was, is and always shall be
Jackson Pollock.....................

Author's Notes/Comments:

Not long ago I happened upon the movie that actor Ed Harris had made about Jackson Pollock (I am forgetting the title now) I only stopped to watche a scene I happened upon while channel surfing the television, the one that shows him in a frenzy of painting the way Pollock was known to paint. I didn't feel these particular words at the time but I felt something in me swirl and I knew I'd write a poem about the actual artist. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it. It felt good to release this poem completed at last.

Thank you so much...........

as you know, inspiraton comes however it comes and from whatever direction but it's always nice when I'm able to tell someone something they may not have known before. I love reading  poetry that teaches me something. All of us come here to help one another along on our path seeking love and knowledge. Again, sincerest thanks, M.
