THE MARTYR'S TEA ROOM

JOURNAL # 41

with cryptic elegance
they conspire
if not for the utter depravity
of their plans
one could almost become
horrifyingly impressed
by the focus and shear
dedication they personally
adhere to
for their religiously charged
murder and mayhem
under the right conditions
and with the guidance of
of great love
devoid of any personal ego
for all of God's people
and not just a warped and
weaponized Jihad against
those who believe but do
so differently
such warriors to serve
could have lived, fought and
died
being ever revered by
a vast swath in the world
and not just their extremist
peers
for protecting those of any
faith
who truly loved God and
wanted only peace
among nations
like in the long ago great
crusades
they were bloody, they were
brutal but deep down
both sides fought with
love for God and home
in their heart
we read about those why still
even today
and they are fondly romanticized
rightfully or wrongfully so
the brutality and the stench of such
wars was long ago left behind
in the mind's memory
yet with their weapons and wiles
today to inflict wounds and death
with but the force of their hatred
they only manage to defile themselves
further
as they wage unjust torture and
mutilation
on people who were never truly
anyone's enemy
women, children, the elderly and the
defenseless
all but the fragile faceless brothers
and sisters of men
as Jesus himself said on the cross
in his final moments
I must reiterate too
'Forgive Them Father For They know
Not What They Do!'...............

Author's Notes/Comments:

Was thinking about the followers of ISIS and how they must be brain washed to believe in what they are doing as right and how this reminded me of the long ago history of the religious crusades fought hundreds of years ago and how bloody and awful they too must have been. I thought of how we as a human race should have long been beyond such barbaric tendencies but there will be small pockets of that from time to time. I imagined what if those men put their clever murderous minds to something good what they could achieve if they did so and how history would pain them some hundreds of years later for the future into a very different light. Those thoughts kept swirling about me and this poem was born of that. Enjoy.
