~An $18.00 Watch~

Walking down the Vegas Strip the other day I was stopped by a guy who was hawking watches. I happened to need a watch, so decided I would take a look at what he had. He pulled out a half-dozen watches from the small backpack he had slung over a shoulder. I pointed at one and asked: "how much for this?"

"$18.00. They're all $18.00," he said.

I reached into my pocket and pulled out a twenty.

"I'll take the black one," I said.

"I don't have change," he said.

Somehow I figured as much.

"Why don't you carry change?" I asked.

"I don't have any change to carry," he replied.

"Why don't you just charge $20 for the watches?"

"I tried that. Got no sales at $20. $18.00 is the best these watches will do."

I handed him the $20 and bought the watch.
