So poor. So poor.

The little girl made a doll of mud.

Mud got on her hands and arms and dress.

She named her mud doll Paula.

She gave Paula a mud patch over one eye

and fashioned a mud hook hand for her

then she made a mud ship with mud sails.

A mud mustache upon the little girl's lip

made her look a lot like daddy. He took care of her

while mommy was at sea high on rum and pilfering.

Mud wasn't for her.
