The only thing growing on Christmas Day

hello goodbye

as life flies by

and as my growing will to die

consumes my life

and all i see

is rushing fast before me

as everything is shot to Hell

and no one hears me when i yell

i scream and cry

hello goodbye

and as my life flies swiftly by

i slowly cry and die

Author's Notes/Comments:

I am rather fond of this one...the title of this poem was inspired by a Flogging Molly song in which the lyrics were "Someone said it was Christmas, not a tree was in sight, the only thing growing, was my will to die."

I'm really proud of how this turned out. I editted a few lines that I thought didn't quite fit, and it took a year, but I'm finally happy with this poem.
