Walls of Stone

We gather ‘neath the skies of freedom’s grace,

Each heartbeat echoes tales of every face,

From the fields of cotton, to the sacred ground,

In the land of the brave, our stories are found.

With hands once calloused, now reaching wide,

We stand united, our spirits undenied,

From the rivers running deep, to the mountains high,

In the tapestry of hope, our dreams will never die.

The whispers of the ancients guide our way,

In the struggle for tomorrow, we find our sway,

With every fallen brother, sister’s tear,

We honor their valor, their memory held dear.

So let the contemplate of stone tell of our fight,

For the love of our country, we’ll stand in the light,

In the heart of the nation, where the brave once roamed,

Together we rise, together we’re home.

As we watch the Walls of Stone,

in Arlington, where all rest on this hollow ground,

Natives, greys, blues, chicanos and Boricuas...

As they all look the same, gathered by their courage,

gathered under the sun as Americans...

As we see reflections on the Walls of Stone!

Author's Notes/Comments:

We gather ‘neath the skies of freedom’s grace,

Each heartbeat echoes tales of every face,

From the fields of cotton, to the sacred ground,

In the land of the brave, our stories are found.

So when I look at Arlington and the walls of stone,

And they bring tears to my eyes, I remember the valor,

Of those honored on the walls of stone,

In the silence of their sacrifice, we find our power.

With hands once calloused, now reaching wide,

We stand united, our spirits undenied,

From the rivers running deep, to the mountains high,

In the tapestry of hope, our dreams will never die.

The whispers of the ancients guide our way,

In the struggle for tomorrow, we find our sway,

With every fallen brother, sister’s tear,

We honor their valor, their memory held dear.

So let the walls of stone tell of our fight,

For the love of our country, we’ll stand in the light,

In the heart of the nation, where the brave once roamed,

Together we rise, together we’re home.
