I Read Between the Lines

I'm a mother and a teacher.

I read between the lines.

Where hints of pain and misery lie

I read between the lines.



Character wrought through adversity

Is written in a spine.

Patriotic pride, or a truthful heart

Bears resemblance much to thine.



Lift up your head, you saddened soul,

And hear these words of mine.

I see in you such salt and strength,

Since I read between the lines.
