The Burden I Long For

Many days had passed since I last indulged in wisdom,

Skipping from thought to thought as I basked in my freedom.

I wandered down the tunnel seeking visible light,

But the further I would wander, the greater the loss of sight.

The light was bright enough to blind me, but I was blind enough to overlook it,

It pleads with me for union, but I weaken my senses to part with it.

Many days had passed till a spark ignited a thought,

One which was familiar, that I had previously been taught.

I hobbled along the frozen walkway of my mind,

Till I was swimming towards a future radiated by prosperity.

I lay back my body and gaze as the time would unwind,

Longing for the peace and the burden of reality.
