Autumn's Solitude

Autumn's Solitude came with the October breezes

brushing the landscape with a color scheme.

With each thought of you, my mind freezes,

wondering why you broke our bonding seam.

Rusty red and golden leaves fall,

touching the ground with lonely impact.

To the winds, your name I did call,

but a life without you became a menacing fact.

Nature displays its autumn magnificence

only weeks before discoloring under barren winter days.

Our first time together was a yellow leaf tree in pure

decadence

that subsequently whithered away with the harshness of bitter

frigid dismays.

Our disengagement I sometimes wish never occurred,

but as a result, my strength is permanently inferred.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This is supposed to be an example of a Shakespearean Sonnet for English. But, as always, it turned out to be a personal sketch of my situation. Sometimes, I miss my significant other and the autumn season, in some ways, signifies how I'm still coping with the pains of breaking up.

I'm sorry to hear about your break up, but this was a beautiful poem, and I hope you got an "A" on that paper.
