The Lovers

Folder:
Poems 2004

The night will take her victims,
Locking then in her embrace,
Watching with dark, bewitching eyes,
As the moon falls into place.

Two lovers seek sanctuary in the shadows,
Where they may hide from all the world,
Away from the hate and secret lies,
And everything they were ever told.

Eyes are locked in loving glares,
And ragged breath is pushed past perfect lips,
All worries are swept away,
As hot skin is traced with icy fingertips.

Rational thoughts are lost to the night?s spell,
Replaced by groping hands and beautiful sins,
Sweet nothings and accidental lies,
And tongues laced with sweet dirty things.

The lovers are wrapped in one another's arms,
Borne away on their sweet dreams,
They shall stay content in their ignorance,
For love is never what it seems.
