She says fate is fake news

Whether there is reason for things happening is debatable. It seems to me, we are presented choice along the path and sometimes we choose the more difficult path but all paths lead to potential growth. Growing pains hurt sometimes. Bliss and happiness are as fleeting as the sadness. It all ebbs and flows. Yeah, I always feel an underlying sadness but often I also feel a certain glow. Whatever. Depression sucks when it grips a tight hold. Happiness is fleeting. I strive for moments of joy.

Create Moments Of Joy

.

Exile what attempts to take control

of how you feel. Grin, inhale the day.

.

Look at a kid's picture and take

the smile that fills every cell

then chuckle at the devil who wants

to steal mirth.

.

Read jokes, Erma Bombeck,

hear and recall Nimish Patel stand-up.
Sadness can flee fast too! Reconditioned,

joy can last for weeks.

Your words, "Happiness is

Your words, "Happiness is fleeting, I strive for moments of joy," brought a metaphor to my mind that I had never thought of before.  I think as a people, or as individuals, we are supposed to evolve into a greater understanding of happiness, not seeing it so much as gratification as contentment.  Consider our species' fascination with stars.  From naked-eye observation, at which the ancients were pretty good, to small telescopes which revealed a lot more than the ancients knew; then large telescopes capable of resolving smears of light into a shaped galaxy (my great grandfather's first cousin discovered one, which still bears his/our surname).  Then Hubble discovered that the galaxies are moving away from a central point.  Then the outer space telescope named for him as shown us tremendous vistas.  Human life should be like that---happiness and contentment should become a greater and greater perspective for us.  That is the striving for moments of joy that you mentioned; and those moments should become more and more clarified, more and more common, as our perspective evolves; as did our astronomical perspective.
