It was a Thursday, mid November, Elizabeth was sitting in a bench at the Boston’s Train station, her bags beside her, she was wearing a long trench coat and long gloves to cover herself from the cold weather. She checked her watch and realized she’d been sitting in the exact same spot waiting for Louis for about 2 hours, they had agreed to meet there at 9 pm to run away together, it was 11 pm now. She decided to wait 1 more hour, she was sure Louis was going to show up. As she waited she started remembering everything that had happened that last months between them. Her parents have never liked him, she was an upper class young lady while he was just a low class worker who was 10 years older than her, Elizabeth and Louis had been in a relationship for about 8 months now and they were in love, he had asked her to marry him about 2 months ago, Elizabeth’s parents had never agreed on their relationship but when they heard the news about the engagement they went crazy, they couldn’t let their only child marry Louis, they told her that she deserved better, that she should marry anyone she wanted that could give her a life like the one she was used to, someone who could treat her like a princess and buy her anything she wanted. Elizabeth had told her parents plenty of times that she didn’t care about money or trips, she was in love with Louis and she was going to marry him, her parents told her they couldn’t allow this so they told her that they were going to send her to a boarding school in England. When Elizabeth told the news to Louis about a month ago, they were both devastated, they had been trying to come up with a plan so they could stay together; they hadn’t succeeded in creating a plan until earlier that Thursday morning when Elizabeth was riding her horse in her backyard, Louis had arrived running and bearing the biggest smile ever, as she saw him from afar she hurried, got off her horse and ran to him, he hugged her and told her he had everything figured out, he had found a way for them to stay together forever, Elizabeth didn’t understand what was going on, he was so excited he couldn’t even tell her his plan, when he calmed down a little bit, he told her that he had talked to his aunt who lived in San Francisco and that she had agreed for them to stay with her as long as it was necessary, he also told her that they had paid him at work that day and that they had given him a pretty good amount of money so they could live well, she was so excited, they agreed to meet later that day at 9 pm in the Boston’s train station, and so now, it was 12 am, and Louis had not arrived. Elizabeth knew he was not going to show up, and devastated, grabbed her bags and returned to her house. When she arrived, she opened the door carefully so no one would know she was there or that she had tried to escape, but for her surprise, her parents were awake and waiting for her in their living room, their parents had a big smile on their faces that was somehow scary to Elizabeth, as she entered the living room she could hear trough the windows the sound of policeman car sirens outside her house, as she looked out her window, she could see Louis being hand cuffed by the police as he entered the police car, she couldn’t understand what was going on, but when she looked at her parents to ask them what was going on, she saw them cheer and that’s when she knew, they were never going to let her be happy…
