Carved

I am carved out of a tree,
a wooden heart
splintered by my ancestry.

I’m rotting lumber
trying to make a name
for myself despite
my waterlogged existence.

I am carved out of the ocean,
a sinking ship
anchored by my heritage.

Though I’m tied to the shore,
I dream of sailboats
navigating the waves
in the wind’s direction.

Nice Wood

Tried to find Listener and sleep in the directory, no luck, the inspirational source was unlocted for such a well sculpted piece. - Lady A
