Of Nature and Nationhood

Nationhood still eludes our collective conscience,

Unity in diversity's undermined by pseudo-ethnicity,

Awakes memories of careless hands and hearts.

We wield words laden with promises,

But we refuse to act against our misdeeds,

Fearing reprisals and withdrawal of favours.

We have taken the curse

From the impurities of the purse;

How we sow the seeds of treasury!

We have no value for nature

And our generation's future

Our wisdom's lost in our lust.

Now we must follow the scent of unlawful laws

To retrieve from dust

The grains of our heritage.

This is really good, both in various messages within and the way it was written. Very poetic, and very creatively worded without coming off as an attempt to throw the dictionary at the reader. I think it is our lack of individualism, that feeds our lack of unity. And that may sound ironic, or oximoronic, but it still makes alot of sense if we think about it.
