The Alchemist

Would you give up all you know?

Just because of a dream

Throw away your life

On the advise of an unknown king

Would you follow the omens?

Or scoff and turn your head

Thinking that is all superstition

And no wise man would follow it

Would you sail to a different country?

And believe a man in a tavern

Or would you be smart enough

To realize he wanted your money

Would you randomly walk into a crystal shop?

And clean all the glasses

Then move in with the merchant

And stay for a year

Would you suddenly decide to continue?

On your journey

And join a caravan

With a book smart Englishman

Would you fall in love with a woman?

As soon as you saw her

And asked her to marry you

On you’re second meeting

Would you warn an oasis of an attack?

And bet your life your right

Then when offered a job

Say no and head into the desert

Would you head off with a man?

You don't know the name of

Into a never-ending desert

Toward a warring land

Would you say you could change into the wind?

Or risk a painful death

And sit for a day

Trying to change into the impossible

Would you be calm or laugh?

When you get to your destination

And learn that many steps back lay your treasure

After what you went through

Would you take this journey?

Or think it the journey of a fool
