My Grandfather's Truck

My grandfather kept his truck clean and waxed, no matter what the weather was like. If it was sunny or if it was cloudy, his truck seemed always astonishing. After the rainy days, he would ask me and my brothers to help him wash his truck; he would always tell us that is the way his truck should be, clean and waxed. His truck was always parked on his garage in the same position. We could always count on that, on reverse and the chassis pointing forward to the street. My grandfather owns a 1950 Ford truck, his most valuable possession He would always tell my brothers and I the stories he lived in his truck, the glory it felt to ride it. Riding that truck for him meant success. He worked hard to gain that truck, so he saw it as a trophy, the trophy of hard work. He bought that truck almost 60 years ago, but he wouldn’t let a week pass without him washing it and taking it for a ride. On Sundays my grandfather took my brothers and I for a ride. He would tell us about the past years when he took my father to school in his truck, how both of them enjoyed the ride and tell each other jokes. My grandfather’s truck has been in the family much more time than I have, it has been through the birth of some of my uncles, through their weddings, through the births of my cousins, through the birth of my brothers, through my birth, and it’s still counting. It’s the witness of our family growth.  That truck has been the instrument that taught all of my uncles including my father to drive, they describe it as rough and hard to drive, but if you ask my grandfather he would describe it as the most comfortable and easy to drive truck. My grandfather has received a lot of offers from people trying to buy his truck, for a really good amount of money, but he says that it is not for sell. He says that there is no amount of money that could purchase his truck, that truck represents a lot of things to him, his hard work he made through his life in order to provide his family a good life. it represents his labor years, but most importantly it represents the growth of his family.
