Cinderella's Tale

By my Prince's side he did ask

Hidden behind that golden mask

Shall we dance, Princess fair?

And float on lightweight air?

On rays of moonbeam bright

Cast with yellow light?

Shall we dance on destiny's wings?

And journey a thousand things?

Of dreams that are not known

And feelings that aren't yet shown?

Shall we romp on cloudless sky?

And eternity shall we then to fly?

On a dark, unforgiving sea

Crossed only by thee, and me.?

Shall we love, like no mortal has dared?

And share secrets, that none have shared?

And live in euphoric bliss

That is sealed by a passionate kiss?

Simply I smiled, and thought of replying

But he gave me a look that was so beguiling

And so I did not say a word

Lest what I say should sound absurd

And I, but a servant, dare not offend

His noble ears, or t'would be my end

I gallantly curtsied as if to say yes

Placed a hand to my side,

and gently lifted my dress

and material on the ground did not sweep

and 'round us two the shadows did creep

and the music was loud, gentle and soft

and i knew that this disguise was bought

though I knew the night would never last

and from there I would flee swift and fast

surely never to see the shine in his eyes

looking upon me in all my lies

untold, and unknown, a servant nobley clad

praying that he'd not find out he was had

by a mere servant, and riches none

a story i'd told, that could not be undone

but the night was ours, for a moment in time

and would linger eternally within my mind

and one day the story would be told

to people young and people old

that in the end my dreams came true

and no one saw, and no one knew

that he would find and set me free

and for always we would be

and in the end the words remain

and the words of our fate were lain

"And they lived happily ever after"
