Unrelenting Cycle

She lives, and loses
Heals and bruises
Loves and gets tossed away

Gives him everything she has
Living today, not in the past
Never goes astray

She hides the pain
She hides the tears
Caring enough to stay

He ignores her words
Forgets her actions
'Til night, when he wants to play

She always holds him in her heart
Each day, refusing to part
Wondering if this will ever change

Farther away, he draws himself
Not seeing what it does to her
Nor watching it tear her apart

It continues on,
The unrelenting circle
Emotions nothing more than a dizzying blur

The time has come;
She's tired of hiding the pain
She's tired of covering the tears

Finally, she lets go,
Lets the tears roll down her cheeks
And whispers to herself, more alone now than ever,
"I don't want to be me..."
