Goodbye Love

Brian, the days we've spent together

Were the kind I'll never spend with another

You brought me happiness far beyond end

Once we became more than "just friends"

I realize in Texas you have another life

But admit - when you're with me

you can't think of your wife

I gave you my heart, body and soul

Being with you through life was my ultimate goal

Knowing you're leaving fills my body with sorrow

Without you here, I'll have no tomorrow

You'll never forget me, there's no doubt in my mind

Just look at the memories we've left behind!

So I guess it's time to say goodbye

All that's left to give is a tear and a sigh.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Once again, a friend of mine asked me to pen a poem for her.
She was seeing a married man, who she believed would leave his wife for her.  He didn't.

Beautifal and sad. It's wonderful how you can get into her soul and express how SHE felt through your PEN. I wanted to thank you...you left a comment a long, long time ago for one of my poems, "no matter how far" , i never thanked you for letting me know that I made you feel closer to someone..after all, isn't that the ultimate goal? Thanks again, keep writing... Lauren

Trust this, my dear, if one thing is true, it is that they NEVER leave their wives.

It is both heartwrenching and masterful of u to delve into the mind of your friend and write the way her soul feels... Definitely a sorrowful poem indeed, Stephanie. A love triangle is destructive...and often, leaves everyone in pain and grief. I hope u can read my poem Star, Forest, Rain. It deals with this theme too. thanxs.

Oh my! Unrequieted love...it is sad and tragic. And you expressed it so eloquently. Bravo!
