Heavens' Bell Tolled

The angels hear Heavens’ bell toll

as God welcomes each gentle soul,

to eternities’ kingdom above,

embraced to the realm of his love.

His reasons, quite hard to perceive,

require each heart should believe,

that his call is with purpose and scope,

and life after death ushers hope.

The sturdy, the frail, young and old,

with grace are received to his fold.

The mild and meek, rich or poor,

find peace with Gods’ touch evermore.

For some it’s their sacred rebirth,

as they were the angels on earth,

with precious time seemingly small,

now yield to a far greater call.

Grieve not for those angels that part,

the pure and the righteous of heart,

as the lord summons each worthy soul,

with the sound of a heavens’ bell toll.

And one such gentle soul was my Grandma Cook, about whom I have written several poems. I don't ever remember seeing her when she wasn't smiling, and she had less to smile about than anyone I know. You made a good point here.
