Dream

Love and Dreams

Upon a soft pillow

the weariness fled

I lay down to rest

as sleep fills my head

In dreams I can travel

to places of wonder

Or fly to a cloud

to just sit and ponder

Tonight, tonight

where shall it be?

Perhaps high in the heavens

or far below to the sea

I feel it coming

the sleep induced show

So rich in detail

I let myself go

I feel content

My spirit is free

I see where I am now

a meadow bordered by trees

In the clearing before me

on opposite sides

My eyes catch the movement

of legs taking stride

The closer they come

I can see one quite fair

A lovely young maid

by the length of her hair

The other is further

across this stretch of land

Of might height and build

it is a man

They meet in the center

They stand face to face

At last they kiss

in a loving embrace

They begin to walk

hand in hand

They walk together

as woman and man

First they walk

then they prance

This isn?t a stroll

this is a dance!

Their moves become fast

in the autumn skies grey

Moonlight and stardust

lighting their way

It?s a waltz being danced

Of that I am sure

It is the dance

of the romantically pure

Faster and faster they spin

Dancing ?round and ?round

To what, I do wonder

there is no music

no sound

Softly I hear

the strings in the air

To share their music

would only seem fair

They will dance for hours

Far into the night

They will dance so long

dark will become light

My heart beats madly

My head is so light

I am caught in magic

that I?ve no wish to fight

I feel their elation

to my wonderment and surprise

I don?t wish to see

another sunrise

The dark skies are lightening

I sense their time almost gone

The grey skies are fading

with the next morning?s dawn

A kiss on the lips

an embracing goodbye

Hurry for here comes the sun

and soon you must fly

Darkness is fading

the skies become bright

Quickly she kneels

far down to her right

Up she comes

with a single pink rose

She blows it a kiss

as he holds it under his nose

He inhales deeply

alone in the mist

He breathes in the rose

which is covered in stardust

where she blew it her kiss

the darkness is gone now

and with it my dream

There will be no other like it

or so it would seem.

I stretch and I yawn

I let out a sigh

as I wipe the sleep

away from my eyes

I look down at my pillow

I feel that I must

For there on my pillow

lie soft pink petals

covered in stardust.

Author's Notes/Comments:

My first poem and a real dream...or was it???

I posted this just as it was written so excuse the lack of form and structure.

I've only had a few dreams that made me wish to stay asleep. This one was really a special dream....or was it? Good job.
