PEBBLE IN THE WATER

A pebble in the water, watching as the water rushes by.

Wondering, is there any way to stop it, or should it even try.

Sometimes being polished, rolling with the flow.

Other times, tossed aside and not allowed to go.

At times it seems unnoticed, passed by without a glance.

It is often chipped and broken, battered by circumstance.

It seems to be so stoic, taking everything in stride,

But who knows if it feels or what it holds inside.

For it is just a pebble, watching the water rushing by.
