Pursuit

Folder:
2003

Fur gleaming, he leapt over branches,
Ears laid back in his youthful pursuit.

His long legged pace kept up with his leader,
Ducking and weaving through all in his path.

She ran through an opening, a swinging safe haven,
But he followed her, just as close as before.

They ducked and they wove,
Through shining, steel chairlegs,
Then forests of polished wood posts.

A wild noise slipped out of his throat,
A yodel, a howl, the cry wildly joyful,
As he was caught up in the magic of chase.

But still they kept running,
Ducking and weaving,
Joyfully singing,
Two exuberant puppies, happy at play.
