The Mermaid

She lay on the vast sea bed, longing for light and a sapphire sky

A mythical creature who cries for life of mindless flight

The corals sung their tunes of love and pearl teardrops

All rippling waves caress her side, with a melodious song

But she heard none of it as she wished to be truly home ..

Unloved she was from birth, with these beautiful ocean petals

A solemn smile adorned her lips, her eyes so bleak with despair

Will you save her? Even if she is in the depths of the ocean floor?

She wants to fly in the sky, and this constraining tail, though magical

Keeps her bound to the murkiness beneath the ocean waves

Who will save the cursed maiden? Who will love her there?

Her kingdom is infinite, but it's devoid of all life

How can anyone in this vast empty space hear her cry ... ?

Who will come for her, in this cold merciless depth?

Will anyone even make an effort, attempt to try ...?

She will wait for you in the ocean floor,

If you're willing to clip your wings and dive,

Or if not ... she'll just wait till the ocean runs dry.

It really is a sad tale of love. I can just picture her looking all desolate at the bottom of the ocean. Nice imagery, i enjoyed reading this piece.
