Winter Is Ours

the snow falls around me

makes things seem so old

I close my eyes & catch my breath

I always feel you when it's cold

looks like tonight I'm a loner

looks like that's pretty easy to see

street lights covered in snow

I wonder what reminds you of me

the lights on the houses

decorations, the tree

they all still have that feel

of you and me

riding the train, catching the bus

winter in manhattan always belonged to us

the skating rink, holding hands

random show-ups, never plans

my hand in your pocket

yours wrapped around mine

I hoped the winter wouldn't end this time

warm in the blankets

deep under the sheets

bodies, undisguised

that's where we'd meet

your eyes in the morning

your voice at night

all the things I'll keep held tight

you promisedf me the world,

seasons and stars

but, no matter what

winter is ours
