SUNBEAT

You stood, knees bent, because it was heavy 

Closed your eyes and you were Aphrodite

Sculpted out of sea foam and cypress 

The ocean mewled at your feet 

And anemones sprung from your cheeks 

Like a puling babe you cried,

If I ever saw the sun again,

it'd be too soon
