A Man'

You talk this talk and say these words;

From where you sit you enter his world.

You’ve been looking, searching and never found,

Now you hear his voice and it’s the sound.

Something you never thought you would ever hear,

And always thought of but would never feel.

First time your emotions ran wild,

The first thing you noticed was his writing his style.

You read his words, heard his stories;

Every chapter so much more interesting to read.

The more you listened the deeper you went,

The more you heard the more you bend.

The papers that make his life, the borders that carry his existence;

The chapters that explain his hurting.

I found him you say, this is the one; I love the emotions and the feelings that I display.

Can I have him, take him home?  For if I depart here I know away hell start to roam.

You have read each page a million times over;

Book marked each and every paragraph with your name.

He has written of you and told everyone his heart,

For from the beginning he knew you would be the one.

You understood his past and wanted his future,

You saw his life and wanted to know more.

You opened the book so easy and with caring,

But not even once did you see those that were staring.

You see no one ever looks when they fall in love,

They never really see when they feel this way.

You he thought had done the same!

Looked passed the old, the rugged and even the shame.

But not once had the cover been revealed, not once did his exterior show the real.

A book among books, a never-ending story of love ending tragedies.

Each line showing you an hour of spoken cheer,

Each syllable an expression of something you both felt so dear.

None of you knew what the feelings were,

How you came to care and feel these things that were never there.

Reading each other so many times, hearing each tone and wanting to cry.

Something new and exciting was taking place, a revelation of sorts no time to waste.

To take him home and read him more

To see the ending of a love to adore.

You go to close the book and see the cover

Only to find that the name is not that of whom you’d call lover.

An exterior torn and varnished, old with jagged edges and papers discolored

How could I want this? What made me say these things?

For a minute you thought it would be bliss,

Now you see what it is you have and start to tear and become sad.

Not seeing that this old book was oh so knowing,

Understanding the rejection and so he knelt.

He leapt from your bosom and back to his shelf,

For he saw the hate and how you really felt.

How could I want this?  How can you ask?

You read each and every word; you saw and felt all of his soul.

Why wouldn’t you want that of a man who would give his all for you?

Chapter of love, a book of eternity with gracefulness;

All of his undying love given to you forever.

It took but to only open your eyes, to finally see;

That what you heard you read really could never be.

That of someone real with finesse, a tall dark stranger with whom you were blessed.

No, that’s not what you saw; a man with beauty? No that’s not what you thought.

Blind they say are those that are in love?  Blind I say are those who cannot fall.

For if you could see this book, this man this shell?

You’d understand you had everything and even more.

You see a man isn’t one who flashes or extravagates,

Not the one with the gold and diamonds.

A man is true to his own, and shows all he has and nothing more.

For he writes his stories, and tells his feelings with simple words.

He lets you read everything he has ever been and what he hopes to become,

Shows you his very soul.

You fall in love with who he is, and what he has for you.

You never see beyond that of what his voice carries to your heart.

But once you open your eyes, and see him for what he is;

You have lost everything you had gained from one good perception.

Close your eyes, open your heart read the poems of life and love that he gave to you.

His life is your book, his chapters your days, his words your countless hours of true love.

Open the pages and see through the ugly cover, understand what a real man is.

For if you do, and allow it to begin, your love and life will be will be that of heaven.
