Holiday/Places Skyline, you shape the home in the sky.
Contouring the southern hemisphere,
Here, in the land down under;
You outline the golden coastlines
With your gallant height, as you look down,
The best harbour in the world is all you see,
That sweeps coves and inlet with your charm.
From Sydney Darling Harbour and around
The Circular Quay, you spread across all points,
Encompassing wonder how humans are adroit;
Engineering its cityscape in brilliant schemes,
It is visible from distant bays and shores.
Crown with pride by dashing Sydney Harbour Bridge,
As down her feet, the icon’s eyebrows raise.
It is world renown, our very own,
Sitting distinctly on its prominent dais,
The Sydney Opera House that dazzles from dawn;
At twilight, its reflection glimmers down the quay.
Skyscrapers transcendingly appear,
Making human life like ants creeping on the ground;
These imposing towers vie their majestic place,
Of fame in the sky, like sovereigns’ greed of a throne;
Glowing by day at the touch of warm southern sun,
They look like magical fairy in the night
At the sight of thousand neon lights;
Their mesmerizing beauty beckons habitués,
While they dance over the silvery water’s silky face
Of blinking mystical mirror by your side,
As they find romance to every passers by.
Pompous structures, they stand side by side
Along old Victorian edifices and more,
Reducing architects of bygone years to shame:
They squeeze, they squash other significant few,
Proud to cast shadows of their overbearing view
Leaving diminutives condescending to its rule,
High and mighty, they spruce the skyline bright.
The spirited skylarks freely swing and glide,
Above your frame of prodigious pride;
Now they find their own abode to praise,
Each day brings homage to their nest.
Home in the sky, your beauty ever rest.
