When We Were Little

(To Lily and Noemi)

Remember when we were little, mother?

You held us warm in your arms so dear;

With big tight hugs ready to cheer our day;

You gave us love and kisses to keep us gay.

Warm baths before bedtime were treats to reckon with.

How we giggled and laughed as we splashed and messed;

Those tiny and big bubbles, foams and suds;

They looked like white clouds in the tub.

You wiped us gently dry all over.

You gave us tender massage with care.

You dressed us up pretty and nicely.

And kept us neat and tidy all day.

Each night, we basked in bedtime stories.

Sometimes we acted out a play.

You taught us rhymes; we sang lullabyes;

Thank you for the love, joys and happy good times.
