My heart was locked and I threw away the key

So you could not ever have me

You tried to open up my heart,

but it would not budge or come apart

You could have loved me,

if only I hadn't thrown away the key



I threw it somewhere in the sea

Never wanted to open it for anybody

You asked me politely if I would open it for you

but you did not understand when I told you that was something I just could not do



You kept asking, pleading why

I kept on wondering if I should just make up a lie

When I told you I threw away the key

You looked at me with eyes of disbelief



I had so much love to give before

I found the lock and the key at the store

and when I put it on my heart I became immune

I did not know the numbness would kick in so soon
