and when the damage was all over

but what if I would have tried
would things have gone differently
Would you be better finally
What if I cannot make you happy
What if in the long run you stil cry and nothing is right
Would you hold onto me ever more tightly
or would you let go and would out of my life
What if I cannot make you happy
What if I only let you down
We have been down this road before
When pain hits your heart you run for the door
But what about this time
What if I promise to make you happy
but cannot follow through
Would you stick around knowing no one is perfect
or would you resent me for ruining everything
If I could not make you happy would you stay
Or would you do what you always do and run away
